When I ask people, including yoga teachers, what "healthy breathing" looks like, they often reply with something about oxygen, or just look truly stumped! The truth is, we've never been taught how to breathe healthily. Modern life has taken us far away from this inherent way of being. Compared to 50 years ago, we're collectively breathing almost twice as much! Over the next seven days, you'll discover what healthy breathing truly means and how to integrate it into your daily life for lasting change.
Hi, I'm Brooke!

Breath Back Story
Have you ever been intrigued by the idea of a breath practice but never had it presented in a way that truly captivated you?
Â
My first encounter with yogic breathing was in Thailand 10 years ago. For 3 months, we sat for an hour of pranayama each day. These sessions gave me so much energy that I only needed 4 hours of sleep each night. My skin was glowing, and creativity was flowing through me.
Â
However, when I returned to Australia, my daily practice disappeared. I had experienced the transformative power of breath, but I lacked the systems to integrate the ashram-style training into everyday life.
Â
It wasnât until life threw some curveballs that I began to rely on breath rituals as a fundamental pillar of my well-being. Breath, after all, is the primal tool for meeting intensity. Often, we are intuitively drawn to our breath when facing a significant life shake-up or navigating the aftermath of an intense realignment. This was the case for me. Nowadays, breath is seamlessly woven into my everyday life, and no matter what your life looks like, it can become a part of yours too!
Â
Using my breath to establish a functional breathing baseline, and then building on this foundation with pranayama, is the single most transformative and powerful tool I've ever used to tap into my bodyâs own healing mechanisms. The intention behind this art has largely been lost or taught as 'out of reach.' The truth is, pranayama is tangible, measurable, and practical. It can help you navigate almost any situation in life with piercing intentionality, focus, calmness, and ease.
